Monday 30th September
Middle Street Resource Centre
7:00pm – 9:00pm
This Monday marks the start of our community quilt project, where you can use all the skills you have learned in previous sessions and your imagination to create quilt squares that will be stitched together to make a statement quilt.
Quilt squares will be pre-cut but you can embroider, applique and embellish anyway you wish. This project will continue through the autumn until we have enough squares for a complete quilt but subsequent session can be arranged outside of Monday’s sessions and contributors are welcome to work on their squares independently.
Sessions are free but if you can make a donation then please drop one in the small blue tin as you leave. No donation is too small and will be used to fund the Bee Creative sessions and support the valuable services that Middle Street provide for our community.
Please indicate your intention to attend on the event page. 12 SPACES AVAILABLE on a first come first served basis. There will be a SIGN-IN SHEET AT RECEPTION specifically for BEE CREATIVE. Apologies if you do not manage to get a space this week.
‘Bee Creative’ is a community based project that seeks to promote creativity as part of Creative Beeston. Our aim is to use recycled and donated materials wherever we can. The team of creatives that deliver the workshops are experienced and patient and offer a range of skills so they can bring you a variety of new things to learn.
The merits of art and crafts on mental well-being have been studied and the work of the ‘Mental Health Foundation’ found substantial evidence that patients who are suffering with depression or anxiety found creative pursuits more successful in helping their symptoms than medical alternatives.
